Following an alkaline diet may just be one of the best things you can do for your health. A PH balance that is above 7.0 is considered alkaline, below is considered acidic. It is important for us to maintain a blood PH of 7.365.

When we are too acidic, we gain weight, and increase our risk of many chronic illnesses. An alkaline PH can protect the body from viruses, bacteria, and yeast. This alone is reason enough to work towards an alkaline diet.

When we are acidic, our body leaches minerals from our bones to try and boost our PH. Our body also buffers acids with fats and stores them in our midsection.

There are several steps that can be taken to boost your PH. The first thing is to follow an alkaline diet. A general guideline to an alkaline diet includes greens, veggies, and other fresh produce. Meats, dairy, and sugars have an acid forming effect on the body. There are also supplements that can be added to help to boost your PH. These includes calcium and magnesium, green drinks, and PH drops.

If you have not yet tested your PH, you can easily do this with PH test strips that work with your saliva or urine. From there you can tell if your body is alkaline or acidic. If you are alkaline, keep up the good work, if you are acidic, its not too late. You can start working towards an alkaline PH today.
